First Day Back And Special Delivery!

One down, 191 to go. 191 days until school is over and it's summer again. But as first days go, this one wasn't horrific. In fact, it was probably one of my better first days. But enough of that.

My awesome father just called. Leafs TV has been delivered AND installed at my dad's house :D FINALLY. I've wanted Leafs TV since it became a channel. And now i can watch Vesa Toskala and Jonas Gustavsson make spectacular saves, Luke Schenn deliver amazing hits, Tomas Kaberle get a billion assists, Nikolai Kulemin score amazing goals and Jiri Tlusty FINALLY play the whole season with the Leafs. Not that I couldn't see that last year, but now I can see all 82 games! Plus highlights from last year, and games from 1967 and special cool things like draft preview '03! (I was at my friend's house once and she has Leafs TV and draft preview '03 was actually on). To say I'm excited is an understatement. I'm STOKED!

In Honour Of Labor Day

Labor Day is the best and the worst day of the year. It's great, because you try to squeeze every last drop out of summer (like that yummy lemonade I got at the EX today) but that cloud of having to go back to work or school is hanging over you at the same time. Which makes it hard to actually enjoy every last drop of summer. Anyways, in honour of Labor Day, here is a story written by me.

Setting: Chicago
Characters: Jonathan Toews, Dustin Byfuglien, Patrick Kane, News Reporter, Interviewer

News Reporter: Today's Top story! Some Chicago Blackhawks are plagued with names that sound differently than the way they are written!
Interviewer: I'm here with Jonathan Toews and Dustin Byfuglien of the Chicago Blackhawks. Dustin, have you ever been made fun of because of your name?
Dustin: absolutely. I cried most days during high school. I mean did you know my name has the word 'fugly' in it?
Interviewer: We were aware of that, yes.
Jonathan: I was bullied too. All the kids in grade 3 called me stinky feet. You know, cuz of the toes part. Even though I'm TAVES
Interviewer: Are you saying the Blackhawks have fugly toes?
Jonathan: Well I know Brian Campbell does. And that awful hair. Honestly, why can't everyone have hair like Kris Letang?
Interviewer: Do you have a man-crush on Kris Letang?
Jonathan: NO!
Dustin: He does. It's all he ever talks about in the locker room
Jonathan: Umm, Well, Umm.... at least I'm not FUGLY!
*Jonathan Toews runs away*
Interviewer: So Dustin, some of our viewers may not be familiar with the word 'fugly'. Can you explain please?
Dustin: Well Kurt, it's really quite simple...
*The Next Week*
News Reporter: Breaking News! It seems parents aren't letting their children watch the news OR the Blackhawks anymore! Mr. Kane, can you shed some light on the subject?
Patrick: It's a disgrace, really, what Dustin and Jonathan said. Could they be any less of role models? I'd be willing to bet twenty cents that that NEVER would have happened in Buffalo...

Stanley Cup Playoffs 2009

This video was aired on CBC right after the penguins won the cup. It really makes you appreciate all the work that goes into winning the cup. Every fan of every team believes that their team is going to win. Of course that only comes true for 1 team, not 16, so 15 teams' fans are wrong. Anything can happen in the NHL, which is why everyone is so optimistic when their team makes the playoffs. This video shows why hockey is the greatest sport in the world. WATCH IT!

Bobbleheads

Wouldn't it be great if there was a leafs management bobblehead series? You could have Brian Burke, Ron Wilson, Richard Peddie and Larry Tenenbaum. Or you could have Phoenix Coyotes bobbleheads. Shane Doan, Mikkel Boedker, Gary Bettman, Jim Ballsille and of course, Judge Redfield T. Baum. Who by the way, is my hero. What a priceless name:
Redfield T. Baum
Bankcruptcy Court Judge
Gelndale, Arizona

Rock it, Redfield

Team Canada Roster

I know this has been out for a while, but here are all the names of players invited to try out for Team Canada for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. We won't know the final roster until around Christmas, but most of these guys look good, especially our goaltending. Martin Brodeur, if he's healthy and not too old, would be great, after all he is the winningest goalie in NHL history. Roberto Luongo is consistent, and has good stats-33 wins, 13 losses, a 2.34 goals against average and a .920 save percentage, and Marc-Andre Fleury makes great saves at key times even is his GAA and SVP could use improving. Not to mention he won the Cup this season. Then there is Cam Ward, a past Conn Smythe trophy winner in 2006 with the Carolina Hurricanes (I wanted Edmonton to win, but Ward was great in game 7). Last is Steve Mason, the Calder Trophy winner and nominee for the Vezina Trophy. I think Fleury, Brodeur and Luongo will end up on the final roster, but I have no clue which one will be the starter, the back-up or the spare, although I'd be willing to bet either Fleury or Brodeur get the starting job.

Also, It's pretty funny Eric, Jordan AND Marc Staal all got invited to training camp. I wonder how Jared feels?

GO CANADA GO!!

Introduction Post

Hey everyone! I'll keep this short. I was born and raised in Toronto, so I'm the biggest leafs fan ever. My favourite player is Luke Schenn. I really started to like Pittsburgh when they drafted Sidney Crosby, and when Marc-Andre Fleury started to play. They definitely earned points with me when in the 2008 playoffs, they beat Ottawa in the first round. Basically this blog is about anything and everything related to hockey (definitely NOT just the leafs and pens). I won't update everyday, but I will most days. Like if I have a big test, I might be studying for it, not on the computer...well actually probably not.

Enjoy!
